The Expo 2020 Dubai has been postponed by a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic and will now be held from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 to allow all participants to safely enjoy the largest international fair ever taking place in the Arab world.
Let’s find out more about this long-awaited event!
A “hybrid” event
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our lives and forced us to look for new digital solutions.
That’s why this Expo will be the first example of a new model of global event in the post-COVID era: a “hybrid” event that can be attended physically as well as virtually.
This Expo wants to offer a new type of experience, in a way it has never been done before: a virtual version of Expo, that will be organized to reach people from all over the world and allow them to virtually attend this incredible event.
But Expo wants to make sure every visitor has a special experience, whether digital or physical.
For those who will physically attend the event, Expo adopted precautionary measures to ensure a safe visit for everyone.
Wearing a mask will be compulsory during the visit, temperatures will be checked with thermal cameras on visitors’ arrival and hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the site.
What is Expo 2020 Dubai?
Expo 2020 Dubai is the first World Expo to be hosted by an Arab nation and it will be the greatest world exhibition where human brilliance, creativity, and culture will be celebrated.
The mission of this Expo is to give people from different corners of the world the opportunity to connect, learn, share ideas and experience the best of art, culture, technology, and innovation.
Dr. Hayat Shamsuddin, Senior Vice President of Arts and Culture at Expo 2020, introduced this huge world fair as a breath-taking journey “where culture, heritage, language and art all come together”.
She says “Expos are all about connections”: countries come together to share their culture and innovations, and to showcase their achievements.
The Theme of Expo 2020 Dubai
“Connecting minds, creating the future” is the main theme of this 2020 Expo, which aims at bringing people together, celebrate human solidarity, and build a better future by focusing on three main points: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.
- Opportunity consists in unlocking the potential for individuals and communities to invest in a better future
- Mobility focuses on the idea of building a solid and efficient network to connect people, by breaking down the barriers between the physical and digital world to create a harmonious global society where information, ideas, and goods are fast and easily exchanged
- Sustainability revolves around the ambitious goal of laying the foundation for a sustainable future, to promote development and technological advancement, while respecting the planet.
Each one of these topics will be represented in stunning pavilions built by talented and skilled architects, and inspired by the stories of the 192 countries that will take part in the Expo 2020 Dubai.
