On the 3rd of January 2019, the very best of international football met in Dubai for the 10th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards. Every year, this glamourous event attracts legendary athletes, coaches, and managers. This edition was no exception. Cristiano Ronaldo, Blaise Matuidi, Fabio Capello, Ronaldo de Lima, Didier Deschamps are only few of those who attended.
The Event
The event took place in one of the most exclusive venues in Dubai, the Madinat Jumeirah Resort. The awards are assigned in 12 categories, recognizing performances for players as well as referees, coaches, managers, directors. Here are some of the winners for this year:
- Best Player of the Year:
Cristiano Ronaldo. The amazingly talented Portuguese player managed to achieve this award for the fifth time in this career. According to the jury, he represents “the modern prototype of the perfect athlete”, both for his physical qualities and outstanding technical skills.
- Best Coach of the Year
Didier Deschamps. One of the very few who won a World Cup both on the field and on the bench, Didier Deschamps has a career already full of awards.
- Player Career Award
Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima.Considered by many one of the best football players of all time, despite a sometimes-unfortunate career, he can count among his achievements the Balon d’Or, a World Cup, and many others.
