Expo 2020 Dubai will take place in the new Dubai Trade Center- Jebel Ali, close to the Al Maktoum International Airport. The site will be surrounded by a free-zone, and it will be connected to the rest of the city by a new Dubai Metro line.

The event will last six months, from 20/10/2020 until 10/04/2021, corresponding with the UAE’s Golden Jubilee, the 50thanniversary of the country’s independence from the UK.

The theme will be “Connecting minds, creating the future”. This mission towards world cooperation and prosperity will be developed following three sub-themes:

The logo of Expo 2020 is also representative of its goals. The design consists of many concentric circles, representing international cooperation towards a common goal of prosperity and dialogue. This logo is inspired by a golden ring archeologists found between Dubai and Abu Dhabi forged over 6000 years ago.

More than 180 between countries and international organizations will take part with their pavilion, exploring the themes of the Exposition while promoting their values and heritage.

The site will be organized like a traditional souk, where everything is divided in sectors. The Al Wasl (ancient name for Dubai) square will be at the center of the site, surrounded by the pavilions.

Each sub-theme will have its dedicated pavilion. The Sustainability one will be covered with solar panels, while the Mobility one will be decorated with projected animations and lights.

The Opportunity pavilion will have the shape of a reversed pyramid, and it will host live shows and events.

Expo 2020 will have a huge impact on the economy of the UAE, driving the country’s GPD up by an expected 1.5%, and the event will also create around 277.000 jobs.
