Langpros at World Pasta Day 2018 in Dubai

On October 25th 2018 Dubai hosted the 20th edition of World Pasta Day, held by the International Pasta Organisation (IPO) and the Italian Association of Confectionery and Pasta Industries (AIDEPI), with the support of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE). The event took place at the Auditorium Dubai Knowledge Park and at the International Center for Culinary Arts (ICCA) in Dubai.

The International Pasta Organisation is a non-profit association dedicated to increase pasta consumption and awareness and to promote the common business interests of pasta industries at an international level. At the moment, IPO counts 26 members from 18 countries.

During the last five years, pasta consumption in Dubai increased by 33%. Thus, it’s no coincidence the organizers decided to hold the 20thanniversary edition in the UAE. The event aimed at “maximizing promotion of an extraordinary, good, healthy, nutritious, accessible, and sustainable food” and the worldwide knowledge of it, delving into scientific, economical, technological, cultural, and gastronomic aspects linked to pasta. Among the sponsors were well-known organizations such as BarillaDibella, Parmigiano Reggiano and many others.

The opening remarks of the day saw the participation of IPO President Paolo Barilla, AIDEPI President Riccardo Felicetti, the Italian Ambassador in UAE, H. E. Liborio StellinoGianpaolo Bruno from the Italian Trade Agency in Dubai and other local authorities.

During the day, speakers examined every aspect of pasta: from the opening conference focused on economics, to cooking shows at the ICCA with famous chefs Luca Marchini, Mohammad Orfali and Victoria Andrade, and even cultural aspects of pasta with a section called “Pasta Is Tasty and Brings People Together”.
