The Hay Festival is the traditional gathering of writers and intellectuals from all around the world, also called “the Woodstock of the mind”.
The 2020 edition in Abu Dhabi took place from the 25th until the 28th of February.
Langpros took part in the event, providing simultaneous interpreting services for various panels.
Hay Festival 2020
Hay festival is a global celebration of arts and sciences, born over 30 years ago in Hay-on-Wye in Wales, a town famous for its bookshops. Since 2006 the festival went international, and this year it is back in the Arab world with the Abu Dhabi event.
This year’s edition of the festival took place at Manarat al Saadiyat as well as other venues across Abu Dhabi and was supported by the UAE Ministry of Tolerance.
The event hosted a number of international guests and famous intellectuals, such as Nobel Prize-winners Wole Soyinka, Shirin Ebadi and Ahmed Galai.
The 50 events programmed took place in 7 languages, and each of those events was translated into Arabic and English.
Langpros enabled the event by providing a total of 10 professional Arabic-English simultaneous interpreters operating in different locations over the course of the festival.
