Interpreting the 3rd Annual MENA

Spectrum Management Conference and the ITU Regional Workshop

Interpreting for the 3rd annual MENA Spectrum Management Conference and the ITU Regional Workshop

With the help of our simultaneous interpreting services, The United Arab Emirates Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA), in partnership with Forum Global, the Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), hosted the 3rd annual MENA Spectrum Management Conference and ITU Regional Workshop. The conference and workshop were held from January 24th to January 26th, 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City, Dubai. Over 130 shareholders and representatives from multi-national companies like Nokia, Facebook, Microsoft and Motorola met with representatives from telecommunication agencies from across the Middle East and North Africa to discuss spectrum management and policy in the Arab region. The ITU is the United Nation’s agency for information and communication technologies.  Its regional workshop, which followed the Spectrum Conference, focused on cross-border frequency coordination in the Arab region.

The Spectrum Management Conference and ITU Regional Workshop brought together delegates who were specialists in the field of spectrum management, policy makers, telecommunication operators, or who were from regulatory agencies. As the audience members were experts in the field, we selected our interpreters for this event based on their previous knowledge and expertise of telecommunications. Our two simultaneous interpreters both had experience in translating the exact technical terminology for telecommunication events. From our company-provided soundproof booth, the interpreters translated every speech, presentation, discussion panel, and question and answer session from English to Arabic. The audience received this translation in almost real time through our infrared earphones. Our skilled and competent technician remained on-site for the duration of the conference and workshop to ensure the proper function of our full conference equipment.

The Spectrum Management Conference and ITU workshop on cross-border frequency coordination were well received and fostered excellent dialogue on the ever-growing importance of telecommunications. We know how instrumental this event was for future regional collaboration and so we are pleased that LangPros could provide interpreters with the proper expertise to help.
