From the 16th to the 19th of April 2019, a delegation of Italian policy makers and business owners, lead by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Luigi Di Maio, visited the UAE to further the economic relations between Italy and the Emirates.
The visit was organized by the Italian Trade Agency in Dubai, the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Italian employers’ federation and national chamber of commerce), and the Italian Ministry for Economic Development.
Langpros took part in the visit by providing simultaneous interpretation services between Italian and English.
During their three-day visit, the delegation moved between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The visit focused on cooperation in five industries:
- Infrastructures: roads, railways, maritime transport, architecture and engineering, construction and construction materials;
- Energy and environment: mechanical and digital technologies for the production and distribution of energy, both for oil & gas and renewable energies;
- Health and pharmaceutical: Biomedical devices, production and commercialization of pharmaceuticals;
- Agro-industry: New technologies for agriculture;
- ICT: Cybersecurity, robotics, AI, Telecom, Blockchain.
On Monday April 15th, Hon. Luigi Di Maio addressed the audience of the UAE-Italy Business Forum held at the Sheraton Creek hotel in Dubai. Here he signed with H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy, two Memorandums of Understanding regarding the fields of innovation, SMEs, start-ups, and circular economy.
The UAE Ministry of economy also stated that the trade exchange figures between the UAE and Italy are growing more and more, reaching around AED 24 billion in 2018.
On this occasion, Langpros’ simultaneous interpreters provided simultaneous translation of the event in Italian and English thanks to the wireless headsets and infrared transmitters installed by our technicians.
Following this conference, the delegation continued its visit to explore mutual business opportunity and continue the organization of the Italian participation in EXPO 2020 Dubai.
