With the help of our simultaneous interpreting services, the New York University (NYU) Abu Dhabi Institute hosted a two-day conference on Implementing Quality Education and Child Development Programs at Large Scale in Global Contexts. The conference, which began on March 1st, brought together leading experts in the fields of policy implementation, education, and child development. Representatives from prominent organizations, such as Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, UNICEF, Save the Children and the World Bank, gathered at NYU’s Abu Dhabi campus to participate in discussions and listen to presentation. The aim of the conference was to examine the most effective method in scaling and studying high quality education programs throughout the world. The field expert would present their research methods on various educational systems and development programs in different countries and then a group discussion and question and answer session would follow.
As the conference invited experts from all over the world, several of the specialists presenting their research required simultaneous interpreting. To help ensure each presenter’s research could be fully understood and properly discussed, we provided two Spanish to English interpreters and our full conference equipment. We selected our interpreters for this event specifically for their knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods to guarantee the field’s terminology was accurately communicated in English. From the soundproof booth, our interpreters translated the presentations and question and answer sessions with only a few seconds of delay. The conference’s guests received this translation through our hand-held sets and infrared earphones. As we provided our full conference equipment, one of our skilled technicians remained on-hand throughout the conference to ensure the technology ran smoothly and there were no technical difficulties.
The NYU Abu Dhabi Institute gathered experts from around the world to discuss education and child development strategies. Topics as important as this one need to be shared to people across the world, no matter what language they speak.
